Course description

A2 level is the second stage of the CEFR 'basic [language] user' category. This level will allow the student to continue working on sentence building as well as new grammar points. Past tenses such as the passé composé will be introduced. The student will be able to start reading and understanding short texts.

You can understand and convey messages in French, respond to simple and direct information, have simple face-to-face conversations, and talk about activities you like or dislike.

Level A2. Descriptors: Can exploit format, appearance and typographic features in order to identify the type of text: news story, promotional text, article, textbook, chat or forum, etc.

People with an A2 level are still at the basic learning level. They can speak some simple sentences, but will have difficulties understanding and writing. They will need their conversational partner to speak very slowly and repeat a lot.

He/she can communicate in simple, everyday tasks requiring no more than a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar and routine matters. He/she can describe in simple terms aspects of his/her past, environment and matters related to his/her immediate needs.

The conditionnel présent of politeness (Je voudrais, J’aimerais, On pourrait avoir…)

Nominalisation of verbs (fermeture, visite, promenade, réponse, entrée, sortie, rencontre, consultation, enregistrement)

Logical assumptions (Si + présent + présent/ futur)

Participe passé and its agreement (passé composé with être)

Il faut / il ne faut pas (common verbs) + subjonctif

Structure (ne…plus / rien / personne)

Quel dommage ! Que c’est beau ! Comme il est mignon, ce bébé !
