Course description

Candidates for this exam are seeking to prove introductory knowledge of how to design, create, and query relational databases, such as MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, or Oracle. Candidates should have at least 150 hours of instruction or hands-on experience with database design and object management, data retrieval and manipulation, and related troubleshooting. Candidates should be able to write ANSI SQL statements and troubleshoot syntax errors and runtime errors. The syntax in the exam is provided in ANSI SQL

What will I learn?

  • Translate business case into a normalized database design
  • Create and maintain tables, views, and stored procedures that support business operations
  • Create and maintain tables, views, and stored procedures that support reporting functions
  • Optimize and troubleshoot queries

Frequently Asked Question

Databases are used to store and manage large amounts of structured and unstructured data, and they can be used to support a wide range of activities, including data storage, data analysis, and data management. They are used in a variety of settings, including business, scientific, and government organizations

Access allows you to manage your information in one database file. Within Access there are four major objects: Tables, Queries, Forms and Reports.

Hierarchical Databases. Developed in the 1960s, the hierarchical database looks similar to a family tree. ... Relational Databases. Relational databases are a system designed in the 1970s. ... Non-Relational Databases. ... Object oriented databases.

A primary key, also called a primary keyword, is a column in a relational database table that's distinctive for each record. It's a unique identifier, such as a driver's license number, telephone number with area code or vehicle identification number (VIN). A relational database must have only one primary key.

A database schema defines how data is organized within a relational database; this is inclusive of logical constraints such as, table names, fields, data types and the relationships between these entities.

SQL triggers are stored procedures that automatically execute in response to certain events in a specific table or view in a database. They are used to maintain the integrity of the data, enforce business rules, and automate tasks. We can set triggers to fire before or after an INSERT , UPDATE , or DELETE operation.

Data Definition Language (DDL) is a subset of SQL. It is a language for describing data and its relationships in a database. You can generate DDL in a script for database objects to: Keep a snapshot of the database structure.
