According to the CEFR framework, a B1 speaker is someone who Can deal with most situations while traveling in a Spanish-speaking area.

If you are already at an A2 level, you might need an additional 80 to 100 hours of structured lessons to bridge the gap.

B1 is where you master the "tricky" parts of Spanish. Key topics include Past Tenses: Fluidly switching between Pretérito Indefinido and Imperfecto. Subjunctive Mood: Starting to use the Present Subjunctive for wishes, doubts, and emotions. Future & Conditional: Discussing hypotheses and future plans. Specific Vocabulary: Topics related to work, education, leisure, and describing objects or events in detail

The most common official certification is the DELE B1 exam. It consists of: Reading (70 min): 5 tasks focusing on understanding main ideas and specific details. Listening (40 min): 5 tasks using monologues or conversations. Writing (60 min): 2 tasks, such as writing a letter or a brief essay (80–150 words). Speaking (15 min): A face-to-face interview including a monologue and a conversation with an examiner
